{Birthday Special} The Exciting Eight!

We held a celebration for E's 8th birthday as he was really looking forward for one. We had not organized any birthday party for him since he was 6yo, just small celebration with the family. So this time, I thought, why not give him a wonderful  memory, since he had made some really good friends at school and they could all had some jolly good time together.

So I drafted a simple party plan, worked out the invitee list with E, designed the party theme & food list; there after setup the kids table, decorated the place. So here they are, the beautiful moments captured..

First, we had the invitation card ready.. He hand delivered to his friends at school, with so much pride.

Then we did some simple decoration around the house... Noticed the blue & gold birthday garland on the curtain rails? E had been urging us to hang them up since a week before the party and he was so excited when Big Guy finally put them up..

We prepared quite a variety of party food. Some were homemade like the tuna & salmon sandwiches, peach jelly, chocolate dipped strawberries, fried longevity noodles, red eggs, cut fruits and ..... The L size Number "8" Race Track Chocolate Cake, my very proud creation which made him smiling from cheek to cheek. Btw, notice the resemblance between this cake and the invitation card? That's where I got my inspiration. ;-)

Took me the entire Saturday morning to prepare this cake, from baking to layering to piping and decorating. It's really rich & moist that in fact, I would think this' the best chocolate cake I have ever baked and tasted really good! :D

Apart from the home cooked, I've also ordered some delicious food in fear that there won't be enough to serve all the guests (but in the end we had too much and everyone get to bring some food home!). We had satay, fruit tarts, mango Rosetta and the famous Tangling nasi lemak with chicken rendang & rempah (herbs) served in banana leaf. All my kind of favorite food! Lol..

I simply love this 3 tier turquoise serving tray, colorful and easy to store - just stack them up will do. These lovely tarts were delivered fresh that very morning by the lovely homebaker, do drop me a message if you would like her contact.

Another Dessert Stand. E helped to prepare these sandwiches.. He had been volunteering a lot for this party as he knew mommy had no other helper, so  how could I resist this little boy's wish for a small birthday party? :)

The marshmallow stand which was quick to setup yet so popular with the kiddos. You can find this styrofoam cake dummy in most baking supplies store, comes in varies sizes and shapes (round or square or rectangular)

Birthday song singing time, surrounded by all the buddies and his little sister.. 

He was beaming in pride when he cut the cake, seems like he enjoyed being the center of attention at the party. He knew it's his day and in fact he played a good host by taking good care of his friends.

Coincidently, there's a children art contest at our community center on the same day, so we brought all the kiddos there to had some fun. Surpsingly, E got 3rd prize in the 8-10yo category with RM50 cash prize and some sponsored goodies. Not bad at all!

In the meanwhile. little C won consolation prize for her beautiful coloring too.. Well done my little C :) 

When party was over, the duo helped to clean up and E could not wait to open up all his presents... He's wearing his new Superman cap and assembling his brand new Lego city toy. He just could not concealed his excitement..

When making the no. 8 race track cake, there were quite so extra cake crumbs and chocolate ganache left, so I made some cake pops and we had a pleasant celebration with our little boy the night before the party, which was the actual birthday.

It really warmed my heart to see his joyous smile. He hugged and thanked me when the party was over, I knew that very day had left a significant stamp in his life journal (or if I were to borrow "Inside Out"'s term, a core memory was created), and it honestly made my day, too.

{Birthday Special} Little C turns 5..

My baby C turned 5 last week. To celebrate her Fantastic Five, we organized a simple party at home inviting some family and friends. The theme this year is...Tea Party with C.

~ The Birthday Cakes ~

The pink birthday cakes that I baked for her (underneath was a rich and moist chocolate cake) for the actual day celebration at school and at home. I am always fond of the dreamy ombre effect, so glad I managed to do it this time using buttercream despite they are far from perfect :)

~ The Party Setup ~

The lazy me decided to engage caterers this year as the work load was really draining; besides, placing the order through home caterer / baker gave me better comfort on the quality of food and glad to know that I am supporting some families. (Scroll down later and I shall share contact info for these fantastic ladies)

The main dessert table was full of delectable sweet and delicious desserts, all my favorite! From mini fruit tarts, blueberry tarts, eclairs, fruit sticks, elegant cake pops, hello kitty swissrolls, designer butter cookies to the savory satay, sandwiches,  fried mihun and chicken pies. I've bought some stake-able displays for better food presentation, and I really like that they can be easily collapse to optimize storage space! There was similar serving on the kids' table too.

   

The yummilicous cake pops made by my uni mate, Shirl. She's one fantastic mom with triplets, it's amazing how she finds time to bake, craft and even gardening! 

Hmm, this one is mine and I'm not sharing.

The designer cookies specially made by my another talented friend, Hong Teng, using the same theme as the party's invitation card. Too cute to eat them!

The little ones had a table all to themselves where there was free flow of food and drink, I drew the inspiration from Alice in the Wonderland. Hub was the true handyman who custom made the vintage wooden table ALL BY HIMSELF.

~ The Making ~ 

It's not a secret that I am not a great baker nor cake decorator, but I tried my best. The pink ombre cake in the making.. the rainbow riceballs are the duo's absolute favourite :)

Best part of the party, C excitedly unwrapping her presents...  

What's a party without some fancy games? The little ones thoroughly enjoyed the washable tattoos, playdoh and bubbles that I prep as party games. They can self entertain while we adults has some chit chat time, win-win! ;-)

The party goodie bags, coincidentally I found some pink paper bags :)

These are the photo shot props handmade by me and the duo using recycle materials, aren't they looking cute? :)

How could I have forget, the me-and-mini-me series that I made for myself and C for the tea party. Thanks to grandma who gave us this beautiful petite English Rose fabric!

Baby C's 4th Birthday Party

My bunny girl is 4, finally. She had grown so much in just a year, taller (6cm!), prettier (lossing her puffiness), so talkative  (so much so that I hope I can mute her sometimes) and also have developed a strong personality of her own. She knows very well what she likes or dislikes and is able to express her feeling clearly, so a typical day of me with the duo together is full of chats and laughter.

Anyway. She told me she likes pink. No mistake about it. So her birthday party theme this year is no other but, PINK.

Her Lovely Pink Teddy cake, fully decorated by me. You can read about the making here. 

She held pride in cutting her custom made birthday cake, wearing her pink princess dress made by mommy while the koko watched on *smile*

The felt bunting I made for her and she really really loved it, this bunting will be hung in her room once the party is over.

The feast of good food on the party day. We organized a simple potluck party inviting all the closed friends and their kiddos.

The apricot jelly that was really well received, the natural color is rather pleasing too (I would avoid using heavy coloring if possible since this is for kids)

I made the Devil's chicken wings on my BFF's request and they turned out to be a big hit. You can get the recipe on my food blog later (promise I will post them...)

The gifts we prepared for her little friends. Just some yummy treats in each bottle and enough to make the kids really happy. E helped to label all the names and C happily distributed to all her friends.

What is a party without some balloons? We had some polkadots balloons to spice up the party. The kids had a good balloon fight and all of them brought home a ballon each. These are just the leftovers. 

The girls sat down to enjoy their dessert after the lunch. All looking pretty in pink.

Then it's playtime.. 

Outdoor playtime... Tossing balls into the basket and winner took home a small prize. The kids were super excited with such a simple game. They would have played longer if not because of the drizzles.

I dare say C was the happiest girl on Earth that day.... Surrounded by the people she loved and who loved her. Her smile lasted whole day.

The very thoughtful gifts and cards she received. One of which was from her grand aunt Kerry who has been sending her a card from Australia every year without fail. 

After the party, we surprised her with her new pink tricycle (yes, PINK again!), and took her for a ride at the park. Now the koko and her have a bike each, she has finally upgraded from her scooter. *smile*

Happy birthday, my pretty C. Thanks for bringing us so much joy & love, life is just so wonderful with you and koko around. Mommy love you, always and forever.
